Bengals receiver Ja’Marr Chase penalized for taunting Chiefs defender after touchdown

Given the back-and-forth between the Chiefs and Bengals this week in their respective locker rooms and on Twitter, it should be no surprise there was some chirping during Sunday’s game.

In the first quarter, there was a small amount of pushing and shoving after a Chiefs field goal. After the Bengals scored a touchdown on a pass from Joe Burrow to Tee Higgins in the second quarter, Cincinnati wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase was caught taunting the Chiefs.

Chase, who returned Sunday after being out because of a hip injury, was mocking Chiefs defensive back Justin Reid, whose comments ignited the midweek war of words.

This is what drew a 15-yard penalty on Chase (video from Twitter user Highlight Heaven).

Later in the quarter, the Bengals’ D.J. Reader was flagged for unnecessary roughness after the Chiefs made an extra point.
