Bellator 289 weigh-in results: Stots-Sabatello, Carmouche-Velasquez, Magomedov-Mix all on point

NORWICH, Conn. – MMA Junkie was on scene and reporting live from Thursday’s official Bellator 289 fighter weigh-ins, where all the fighters on Friday’s card hit their marks.

The weigh-ins took place at the Bellator host hotel in Norwich, Conn., and preceded the ceremonial weigh-ins for the fans, which take place at 2 p.m. ET at the Cabaret Theater at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville. The on-site Mohegan Sun Arena hosts Friday’s event, which has a main card on Showtime following prelims on MMA Junkie.

In the main event, interim bantamweight champion Raufeon Stots (18-1 MMA, 6-0 BMMA) takes on challenger Danny Sabatello (13-1 MMA, 3-0 BMMA). Their fight also is a semifinal in the ongoing 135-pound grand prix. Stots and Sabatello weighed in early in the one-hour official window. Stots was 134.4 pounds; Sabatello was 135 on the nose.

In the co-feature, women’s flyweight champ Liz Carmouche (17-7 MMA, 4-0 BMMA) takes on former champ Juliana Velasquez (12-1 MMA, 7-1 BMMA) in a rematch. Velasquez, who lost the title to Carmouche in April, was the first fighter to weigh in and was 124.2. Carmouche came in at 124.8 to make the fight official.

In the second bantamweight grand prix semifinal, Patchy Mix (16-1 MMA, 5-1 BMMA) meets Magomed Magomedov (19-2 MMA, 3-1 BMMA). Magomedov was the second fighter to come to the scale in the session and was 134.4. Mix was right behind him and was 135.
