Beauty and the Beast trailer breaks record for Most Views in 24 Hours

The first trailer for ‘Beauty and the Beast’ is already breaking records…

‘Beauty and the Beast’ is swiftly becoming one of Disney’s most highly-anticipated live action remakes… and with 127.6 million views on the day of its release, the first official trailer has smashed through the record for Most Views in 24 hours.

Quite a feat, considering it was up against ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’.

The magical new trailer, which was released earlier this week, gives us another glimpse at Emma Watson as Belle, with our first proper look at Dan Stevens’ motion capture take on the iconic Beast.

Then there’s the incredible versions of Mrs Potts (Emma Thompson), Lumiére (Ewan McGregor) and Cogsworth (Ian McKellen).

Most enjoyably, there’s even a hint at the beautiful ballroom dancing scene from the original movie, featuring Belle’s iconic yellow dress and the Beast kitted out in his best dancing suit.

The colossal 127.6 million views managed to beat previous record holders, ‘Fifty Shades Darker’ which had 114 million views, as well as Disney’s very own ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, which had 112 million views.

The studio has since revealed that the actors themselves were responsible for large chunks of those views, with Emma Watson’s Facebook page accounting for more than 27 million alone.

And within the first half hour of its release, #BeautyAndTheBeast was trending worldwide.

The trailer is also currently the Top Trending Video on Youtube. Quite an accomplishment for a tale as old as time.

‘Beauty and the Beast’ stars Emma Watson and Dan Stevens, alongside Luke Evans, Emma Thompson, Ewan McGregor and Sir Ian McKellan.

Bill Condon directed the movie based on a script he co-wrote with Evan Spiliotopoulos and Stephen Chbosky.

‘Beauty and the Beast’ heads to cinemas on 17 March 2017.
