How a Bay Area company's clean energy generators could help reduce carbon footprint

Last year, there were 20 different weather and climate disasters that resulted in more than $1 billion in losses. Several of those occurred in California, including the Dixie and Caldor fires. Events like that can put a big strain on the power grid for long periods of time. A Bay Area company in San Mateo County is now producing a type of on-site power source that can potentially aid in those situations by accessing different combinations of clean energy sources. Mainspring Energy's primary customers are large companies with big power needs. These companies have started using the Menlo Park company's on-site generators to fill in the gaps when solar power is less available. The generators can automatically switch between clean energy sources, depending on what is available.
