Batman V Superman Cinematographer Does U-Turn On Ultimate Edition

‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ cinematographer Larry Fong has changed his opinion on the Ultimate Edition of the DC movie, that gets its home release this summer.

Zack Snyder’s comic book epic didn’t do as well as anticipated, with a box office total of $872 million it still made good money, but the negativity and middling to down right scathing reviews did it no favours.

Having previously taken a very unambiguous stance on Twitter that audiences who didn’t enjoy seeing ‘Dawn of Justice’ at the cinema definitely won’t enjoy the UE, stating, “Those of you who are fans, will dig it. If you hated it, you’ll still hate it.”

While this clearly wasn’t the most encouraging of words to anyone who hoped to revisit and ideally get more out of ‘Dawn of Justice’s’ R-rated home release cut (not least Warner Bros.), the cinematographer has since done a 180 degree turn on the matter.

Many movie fans assumed that the Ultimate cut, which includes 30 minutes of extra footage, would perhaps go some way to fix the issues the movie had and arguably improve the viewing experience, even if it did take its runtime to just over three hours.

In his latest tweet, Fong has changed his opinion, citing the cut as something quite brilliant.

Maybe since Fong had actually seen the UE in its entirety his mind was swiftly changed, so there’s every chance the newer, longer, and more adult cut of the Batman versus Superman showdown will please more people on the small screen.

Or it could just be that Fong’s initial reaction was a tad too negative for Warner’s liking - we’ll be able to judge properly for ourselves on 1 August.
