The Batman Part 2, directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson, has been delayed by a year.

The dark and gritty comic book sequel was dated to hit screens on October 3, 2025, but has now been pushed back to October 2, 2026.

The Hollywood Reporter, who broke the news, explained that Warner Bros. has been shuffling its release schedule, but did not give a specific reason why their flagship superhero has been delayed for so long.

Still, there will be other returns to Gotham City within the next two and a half years, as there is The Penguin series on the way, and another series that started off as a Gotham City Police Department show but has seemingly morphed into one focused on the residents of Arkham Asylum.

Outside of this continuity, there's also the new main DC Universe that James Gunn is in charge of.

A new Batman hasn't been announced yet, but the character is set to be an important part of that universe, with the film The Brave and the Bold focused on the Bat-family.

There's also the Joker sequel which has been filmed, and is once again set in its own, seemingly Batman-free, continuity, and is to release in October of this year.

Maggie Gyllenhaal film The Bride! has taken The Batman Part 2's original Mean Girls Day release date. Meanwhile, gangster movie Alto Nights has gone from November 24 this year to March 21 next year, while Paul Thomas Anderson has a new film set for August 2025.

The Batman Part 2 will be release in cinemas on October 2, 2026.
