Saltburn star Barry Keoghan has explained why the film's shocking grave scene was "required".
The film stars Keoghan as Oliver, a lonely Oxford student whose obsession with his rich classmate Felix (Jacob Elordi) and his wealthy family takes a very dark turn when he's invited to stay at the family's luxury estate.
If you haven't seen Saltburn yet (this is your second spoiler warning) the film contains a scene in which Keoghan's character Oliver 'makes love' to the grave of his recently deceased pal/obsession Felix.

The scene didn't feature originally in the script and it came about as a collaboration between Keoghan and writer/director Emerald Fennell.
Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy about the improvised scene, Keoghan explained why he was so onboard with doing the scene which he knew everyone would be talking about.
"It was required though, I wanted to see where it went," he explained. "It's the next level up in obsession.
"I just wanted to see... you know, an action happened, what I'd do as Oliver. It was interesting to discover that."

Speaking about how he collaborated with Fennell throughout filming, Keoghan added: "We always chat, we always try to justify the actions, the motives, and we’ll debate some stuff.
"We'll go, 'That works, that doesn't.' That just shows the level of trust we have for one another."
Fennell herself has spoken previously about the scene, telling Variety: "If you’re taken over with grief and horror and love and sadness, people do crazy things. And that’s what this film is about."
