Barack Obama’s Former NYC Apartment Is on the Market for $1.45 Million

From House Beautiful

Want to live like an Obama? While you may not be able to call the White House home, the apartment Barack Obama once rented in college is now on the market for $1.45 million. Since his residence, the building has been renovated and is completely move-in ready.

The listing is held by agent Scott Harris of the brokerage Brown Harris Stevens. Located in the Morningside Heights neighborhood of Manhattan, the apartment has been fully renovated and turned into a 39-unit co-op building. Pre-renovation, Obama lived there with roommates in the early 1980s while he attended Columbia University, according to Relator.com.

Now, the three-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment has high-end appliances, an in-unit washer and dryer, custom countertops, and white cabinetry. The perks of the original structure are still there including high ceilings and spacious bedrooms with added custom closets. In the main bedroom, you'll find a wall of closets, an en-suite bathroom with double sink, and a windowed shower stall. The second bathroom features marble floor tiles and a soaking tub. The building itself has a live-in superintendent and exists on a quiet, tree-lined side street between Broadway and Riverside Drive.

For anyone looking to buy in Manhattan, this listing looks like a solid option. Plus, how fun would it be to tell people Obama used to live in your home? That’s definitely a party convo-starter for when parties are a thing again. Until then, it's a scenario we can dream about!
