Balenciaga Launches Re-Sell Program In a Bid to Become More Sustainable

Balenciaga just announced a new circularity program that will help its consumers to re-sell authentic Balenciaga clothing and accessories. Part of the House's wider mission to becoming fully sustainable, the program exists in partnership with Reflaunt, a platform that specializes in implementing circular models for fashion brands.

Customers can drop off their pre-loved products at participating Balenciaga stores, or alternatively arrange a collection through the brand's partnering service. Items will then be documented, authenticated, professionally photographed and priced, before they're listed on Reflaunt's worldwide network, which includes access to over 25 secondhand marketplaces. Once purchased, items will be shipped directly from Balenciaga to their new homes.

For each piece sold, customers will receive either financial compensation or credit value which can be spent at Balenciaga stores. The new offering comes as Balenciaga aims to encourage its community to reduce their consumption, re-use existing clothing and recycle pieces that no longer work for them, something that more and more luxury fashion brands seem to be working towards.
