New Balance and thisisneverthat's Fifth Collab Gets an Official Release Date

New Balance has teamed up with South Korean streetwear label thisisneverthat for a fifth time, on a new capsule collection inspired by running. The collaboration was first teased back in July and has since been given an official release date.

According to the press release, the collaboration is designed with the theme of a "pretend running competition" dubbed the 2022 Downtown Run. Offering a range of shoes and sports gear including sweatshirts, T-shirts, shorts and trucker caps, the collection draws its core inspiration from the New Balance 1500UKG silhouette, worn by many morning runners back in the 1990s.

Two footwear silhouettes hero the collaboration: the 2002R, which rose to prominence as a result of previous thisisneverthat collaborations, and the 1906 which was originally released in 2010. Both sneakers appear to take on minimalistic colorways, fusing metallic silvers with subtle navy blues and off-whites. The corresponding apparel is equally minimal, made up of forest greens, grays and blues.

Retailing for £155 (approximately $186 USD), the shoes will be available for purchase from August 19 on New Balance's website. For more release news, check out our top sneaker releases of the week.
