A list of government web pages that have gone dark to comply with Trump orders
A number of U.S. government web pages changed or went dark Friday as agencies scrambled to comply with President Donald Trump's executive orders declaring his administration would recognize only two genders and ordering an end to diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives. In a letter sent on Wednesday, the Office of Personnel Management directed agency heads to terminate grants and contracts related to “gender ideology,” ask staff to remove pronouns from their government emails, and disband resource groups on the issue, too. The directive, which ordered agencies to institute changes by 5 p.m. on Friday, also asked agencies to remove the term “gender” from government forms and swap it out with “sex.”

South Carolina puts inmate Marion Bowman Jr. to death in state’s third execution since September
South Carolina put a third inmate to death in four months Friday as it goes through a backlog of prisoners who exhausted their appeals while the state couldn’t find lethal injection drugs. Marion Bowman Jr. was executed at 6:27 p.m. Bowman, 44, was convicted of murder in the shooting death of a friend whose burned body was found in the trunk of a car. Bowman maintained his innocence since his arrest and started his final statement with “I did not kill Kandee Martin.”

Pentagon says it will no longer use official resources for cultural awareness months celebrations
The U.S. Department of Defense will no longer use official resources, including man hours, to host celebrations or events related to cultural awareness months, it said in guidance issued on Friday. It said service members and civilians are allowed to attend these events in an unofficial capacity outside of duty hours. The Pentagon added that installations, units and offices are encouraged to celebrate "the valor and success of military heroes" of all races, genders and backgrounds.
