Avatar 2, 3, 4 and 5 director James Cameron eyes Terminator 6, 7 and 8

Film director and sequel enthusiast James Cameron has revealed plans to reboot the Terminator franchise, again, professing a desire to produce a new three-film arc.

This is, of course, if he manages to make it through Avatar 2, Avatar 3, Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 first.

Cameron told News Australia:

"I am in discussions with (producer) David Ellison, who is the current rights holder globally for the Terminator franchise and the rights in the US market revert to me under US copyright law in a year and a half so he and I are talking about what we can do. Right now we are leaning toward doing a three-film arc and reinventing it."

Terminator was only rebooted in 2015 with Genisys, an instalment that saw Arnold Schwarzenegger return and Emilia Clarke and J.K. Simmons join the cast.

It received mixed reviews from critics, but earned $440 million at the box office.
