Austin Resident Uses Hammer to Knock Ice Off Railing During Winter Storm

A Texan enlisted the help of a hammer to knock the ice off a railing in Austin as a bout of winter weather impacted the state on Tuesday, January 31.

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued multiple weather advisories for the region on February 1 and said power outages and tree damage would become more likely due to increasing ice.

Austin Energy reported that thousands of customers were left without power and said extreme winter weather through February 3 would cause local outages.

The NWS urged residents to remain vigilant despite the heaviest period of precipitation having ended. Credit: Simply Sal via Storyful
