Arsenal and Everton might feel it’s a case of winner-takes-all when they meet on Friday night, with both sides just on the fringes of the fight for European spots - and a victory here could propel them into the reckoning late on.
The Gunners have been typically inconsistent of late, beating Sheffield United domestically and Slavia Prague in Europe, but then only just managing to eke out a last-minute draw against relegation-threatened Fulham last time out.
In amongst all those on-pitch frustrations, the club’s farcical part in the ill-fated European Super League was short-lived and much-vilified, with Mikel Arteta saying the hierarchy have since apologised to him for their role.
As for Everton, they can’t climb above eighth place in the table with victory, but that would at least keep them on the coat-tails of the likes of Liverpool and Spurs as they try to finish the campaign with a Europa League spot.

What was the team news?
Arsenal will continue to be without David Luiz and Kieran Tierney because of injuries, while Alexandre Lacazette could also be a doubt following a hamstring issue. However, Martin Odegaard could return to the team following a foot injury, as could Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who was recently treated for malaria.
Arteta is likely to make changes to his starting XI, with Nicholas Pepe and Thomas Partey likely to be included. Nketiah could play in the middle if Aubameyang has not returned.
Everton have a number of injury concerns, with Abdoulaye Doucoure, Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Fabian Delph, Yerry Mina and Bernard all unavailable for this fixture.
Andre Gomes is likely to return from injury and the Toffees will be hoping that Dominic Calvert-Lewin is cleared in time for the match.
