Arsenal are embarking on another summer of serious spending as Mikel Arteta continues to build a squad capable of challenging near the top of the table.

The Gunners spent just shy of £150million last summer and have already parted with close to £100m with four new faces through the door in Gabriel Jesus, Marquinhos, Matt Turner and Fabio Veiria.

Arsenal hope to add further additions to take their spending close to last year’s total, with Ajax defender Lisandro Martinez also linked.

Here’s how the Gunners could line up next season.

With Eddie Nketiah signing a new contract and being handed the iconic no14 shirt, best associated with Thierry Henry, then surely the young striker is set for a prominent role next season.

Nketiah stepped up in the run in, with his goals almost clinching Champions League football and will be full of confidence heading into the opening games. That would see Jesus take a role out wide - a position he has said is his preference - as young star Bukayo Saka takes the opposite flank.

Jesus, who will wear the no9 shirt, can also take a central role, as Gabriel Martinelli steps into the left flank role. Emile Smith Rowe will also be vying for minutes.

Fabio Vieira signs for Arsenal

Vieira play either as a No8 or No10, while he has also featured as a right winger so there are plenty of options for Mikel Arteta.

The Gunners will likely line up in a 4-3-3 formation again for the majority of their matches next season, with Thomas Partey expected to start at the base of midfield.

That leaves two No8 spots alongside him. For games where Arsenal are faced with a low block and have so often struggled to break teams down, Arteta may well opt to start both Vieira and Martin Odegaard alongside Partey in what would be a side full of creativity.

At the back, Lisandro Martinez would rotate with the impressive Ben White and Gabriel, while William Saliba is determined to make a name for himself in north London after three successive loan spells.
