Judge weighs challenge to Elon Musk's $1 million voter giveaway
A judge in the battleground state of Pennsylvania on Monday will weigh whether to stop Elon Musk's $1 million-a-day giveaway to registered voters ahead of the U.S. presidential election. The hearing comes just one day before Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris and Republican former President Donald Trump will square off in the tightly contested race. Musk and his political action committee are backing Trump.

Analysis-For dealmakers, regulatory chaos would undercut Trump's pro-business tilt
With any other president, promises of less regulation and lower corporate taxes would have Wall Street's deal machine salivating at the prospect of a feeding frenzy. That's because executives expect a Trump administration would also bring with it policy uncertainty, trade wars, protectionism, and inflationary pressures, which will slow down mergers and acquisitions activity, interviews with bankers, lawyers and consultants show. That's leading some dealmakers to believe the environment for corporate M&A activity might not look much different under either presidential candidate: Trump or Democratic rival Kamala Harris.

Boeing workers vote on wage deal that could end strike
Boeing U.S. West Coast factory workers will hold a vote on an improved contract offer on Monday that could end a seven-week strike and restart jet production at the troubled planemaker. Boeing's latest offer includes a 38% wage increase spread over four years, up slightly from a 35% raise in a proposal that was rejected by around two-thirds of the 33,000 striking machinists in a vote 12 days ago. Boeing's fourth offer since a strike started on Sept. 13 comes at a critical moment for the company, which last week announced a $24 billion share issue to shore up its finances after the strike halted production of its cash-cow 737 MAX jet.

Analysis-Americans hungry for weight-loss drugs grapple with supply and insurance hurdles
Americans are still eagerly seeking prescriptions for Eli Lilly and Novo Nordisk's weight-loss and diabetes drugs but cannot always fill them because of supply issues and insurance hurdles, according to their doctors. Those frustrations, along with the medicines' high cost, are pushing patients to cheaper compounded versions sold online, doctors, pharmacy officials and Wall Street analysts said. Lilly last week reported a rare $1.5 billion sales miss for its injectable obesity drug Zepbound and diabetes medicine Mounjaro combined, raising concerns among investors that demand might be cooling for the products.

Facebook, Nvidia ask US Supreme Court to spare them from securities fraud suits
The U.S. Supreme Court is set to consider bids by two tech giants - Meta's Facebook and Nvidia - to fend off federal securities fraud lawsuits in separate cases that could make it harder for private litigants to hold companies to account. After a trio of Supreme Court rulings in June that weakened federal regulators - including the Securities and Exchange Commission that polices securities fraud - the justices may now be poised to rein in the power of private plaintiffs to enforce federal rules aimed at punishing corporate misconduct.

Analysis-Israel's strikes on Iran spark interest in air-launched ballistic missiles
Israel's effective use of air-launched ballistic missiles in its airstrikes against Iran is expected to pique interest elsewhere in acquiring the weapons, which most major powers have avoided in favour of cruise missiles and glide bombs. The Israel Defense Forces said its Oct. 26 raid knocked out Iranian missile factories and air defences in three waves of strikes. Researchers said that based on satellite imagery, targets included buildings once used in Iran's nuclear programme.

America on edge: How voters are dealing with election stress
Danielle Trenney, a 39-year-old project manager from western Pennsylvania, is so anxious about the U.S. presidential election on Tuesday that she decided to put up a Christmas tree early this year to take her family’s mind off things. Trenney said she knew of other families doing the same in Bellevue, a Pittsburgh suburb and an electoral hotbed prized by both Democrat Kamala Harris and Republican Donald Trump, rivals in a race that analysts say will go down to the wire. “Just trying to pacify the anxiety,” said Trenney, who voted for Harris ahead of Tuesday's Election Day.
