Ariana Grande shares behind-the-scenes look at Wicked with Cynthia Erivo

Wicked fans were treated to a behind-the-scenes look at the upcoming musical film courtesy of its stars Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo.

Grande took to Instagram to share a few snaps with her co-star ahead of the movie premiering next year.

The carousel shows the 'thank u, next' singer and the Harriet star wearing the signature colours of their characters, pink for Glinda (Grande), the Good Witch, and green for Elphaba (Erivo) aka The Wicked Witch of the West.

"up to (no) good," Grande captioned the images, adding a bubbles and broomstick emojis for good measure.

The film, helmed by director Jon M Chu, was first announced in November 2021. A spin-off of The Wizard of Oz, Wicked tells the story through the perspectives of the two witches.

Alongside Grande and Erivo in the lead roles, the movie also stars Jurassic World's Jeff Goldblum as the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Everything Everywhere All At Once's Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible and Bridgerton's Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero Tigelaar.

Ethan Slater, Marissa Bode, Bowen Yang, Bronwyn James, Keala Settle, Aaron Teoh and Colin Michael Carmichael also feature.

Originally announced as a single movie, Wicked will be released in two parts, being released next year and in 2025.

Both parts are penned by Winnie Holzman and Stephen Schwartz, who wrote music and lyrics for the 2003 stage musical of the same name.

The stage musical was an adaptation of the 1995 novel from author Gregory Maguire, based on characters from the original story by L Frank Baum.

Wicked: Part One is set to be released on November 27, 2024, with Wicked: Part Two expected to follow on December 25, 2025.
