Jim Parsons has unveiled a first look at his character in the upcoming Ted Bundy biopic.

The grisly-sounding Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil, and Vile movie will see Zac Efron play the notorious serial killer who murdered over 30 victims before being executed in 1989.

However, The Big Bang Theory star will be taking on a rather different role from his co-star, playing prosecutor Larry Simpson, who led the 1979 trial that led to Bundy's conviction.

The first pictures of Parsons' character, posted on his Instagram, show the actor in rather dapper "period garb" as he faces-off against Bundy in court.

Zac also posted a picture of him in a bowtie with his co-star, looking at him quizzically and captioning the picture jokingly: "What's wrong @therealjimparsons? You don't like the bow tie?"

Bundy became well-known in the public in the 1970s and 80s after confessing to the murders of over 30 people.

They aren't the only big names to sign-up for the movie either, with Haley Joel Osment, Terry Kinney and Dylan Baker all starring too.

Also along for the ride is Lily Collins, who plays Bundy's girlfriend Elizabeth Kloepfer – the movie is told from her perspective as his crimes are retraced right up until his execution in 1989.

John Malkovich will take on the role of Judge Edward Cowart and Kaya Scodelario plays Bundy's ex-wife Carole Ann Boone.

Directing the project is Paradise Lost's Joe Berlinger while Michael Werwie is on writing duties.
