Another Johnson County Whataburger is about to open. Here’s when more are coming to KC

Whataburger plans to open another Johnson County location on Monday.

The corporate-owned restaurant, in 95Metcalf at 9505 Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park, is scheduled to open at 11 a.m. for double drive-thru service only. It will roll out additional service options including dining room access, ordering via the Whataburger App and Whataburger.com, curbside and delivery in coming weeks. It has 65 employees led by operating partner Roberto Rodriguez.

Interior details include custom wall art honoring Overland Park’s landmarks.

The Texas-based Whataburger is known for its made-to-order burgers — as well as perhaps its most famous fan, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. It also has breakfast items, fries with dipping sauces including jalapeno ranch and honey barbecue, onion rings, salads, shakes and desserts.

It already has area restaurants in Blue Springs, Independence, Lee’s Summit, Overland Park, Raymore, the Northland and Kansas City, Kansas.

In addition to the corporate-owned restaurants, Mahomes also is opening locations under his KMO Burger franchise:

Highway 152 and North Booth Avenue. Late July or early August.

5630 Bannister Road. Late summer.

8851 N. Ambassador Drive. Hopes to open by late June.

14123 W. 135th St., Olathe. Late 2023.

9100 block of Missouri 45, Parkville. Late 2023.

4200 Sterling Ave. Early 2024.

Lawrence, location TBA in 2024.
