On Tuesday, Bassett, 65, and her husband of nearly 26 years Vance, 63, were among a number of celebrities who walked the red carpet at the Metropolitan Opera's opening night gala for its new production Dead Man Walking.
Bassett and Vance both wore black outfits for the black-tie event, with Vance sporting a brown hat and the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star wearing a large black-colored felt rose on her dress.
The longtime couple were in good company at the opera's opening night at New York City's Metropolitan Opera House at Lincoln Center. Jon Hamm and his wife Anna Osceola, Anne Hathaway, Sigourney Weaver, Whoopi Goldberg, Patrick Stewart, Al Roker and his wife Deborah Roberts and Peter Sarsgaard were among a number of A-listers who walked the red carpet Tuesday prior to the show.
Bassett and Vance began dating in the early 1990s after they originally met while they both studied at Yale University in the '80s.
In 2018, Bassett told PEOPLE that "maybe about 14 years later" the two reconnected in Los Angeles. The pair both found themselves single at that time and began dating. The What's Love Got to Do With It star and Vance ultimately tied the knot on Oct. 12, 1997, and welcomed fraternal twins Bronwyn Golden Vance and Slater Josiah Vance, 17, on Jan. 27, 2006, via surrogate.
"He understands just empirically everything that I go through," Bassett later told PEOPLE of her relationship with Vance in February. "He can really give me perspective, because it gets very heady and very busy, but he just keeps me very grounded about the important things, that life is good and we're all just doing our best to support each other."

Vance, who serves as president of the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, has stayed active in the entertainment community in recent months even with many Hollywood productions shut down due to the ongoing Screen Actors Guild strike.

Vance also stars in the upcoming Showtime and Paramount+ movie Heist 88, a crime thriller based on a true story. Both Vance and Bassett worked on the movie as producers under their company Bassett Vance Productions in addition to Vance's leading role.
Heist 88 launches Sept. 29 on streaming and on demand for all Showtime and Paramount+ with Showtime subscribers before it makes its on-air debut Oct. 1 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.
