Analysts' Revenue Estimates For Republic Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ:RBCA.A) Are Surging Higher

Republic Bancorp, Inc. (NASDAQ:RBCA.A) shareholders will have a reason to smile today, with the analysts making substantial upgrades to this year's statutory forecasts. The analysts have sharply increased their revenue numbers, with a view that Republic Bancorp will make substantially more sales than they'd previously expected. The stock price has risen 4.8% to US$44.85 over the past week, suggesting investors are becoming more optimistic. Could this big upgrade push the stock even higher?

Following the upgrade, the current consensus from Republic Bancorp's two analysts is for revenues of US$297m in 2023 which - if met - would reflect a reasonable 3.9% increase on its sales over the past 12 months. Statutory earnings per share are expected to be US$4.64, roughly flat on the last 12 months. Prior to this update, the analysts had been forecasting revenues of US$269m and earnings per share (EPS) of US$4.47 in 2023. The most recent forecasts are noticeably more optimistic, with a nice increase in revenue estimates and a lift to earnings per share as well.

Another way we can view these estimates is in the context of the bigger picture, such as how the forecasts stack up against past performance, and whether forecasts are more or less bullish relative to other companies in the industry. We can infer from the latest estimates that forecasts expect a continuation of Republic Bancorp'shistorical trends, as the 3.9% annualised revenue growth to the end of 2023 is roughly in line with the 4.4% annual revenue growth over the past five years. By contrast, our data suggests that other companies (with analyst coverage) in a similar industry are forecast to see their revenues grow 6.5% per year. So it's pretty clear that Republic Bancorp is expected to grow slower than similar companies in the same industry.

The Bottom Line

The most important thing to take away from this upgrade is that analysts upgraded their earnings per share estimates for this year, expecting improving business conditions. Pleasantly, analysts also upgraded their revenue estimates, and their forecasts suggest the business is expected to grow slower than the wider market. Seeing the dramatic upgrade to this year's forecasts, it might be time to take another look at Republic Bancorp.

Even so, the longer term trajectory of the business is much more important for the value creation of shareholders. At least one analyst has provided forecasts out to 2024, which can be seen for free on our platform here.
