Entire town of 'beautiful single women' seeking suitors

In southeast Brazil there is a town called Noiva do Cordeiro, which translates to "Bride of the Lamb." The town is reportedly known for being made up entirely of beautiful woman ... and they're looking for suitors.

According to reports, most of the female residents are between the ages of 20 and 35, and they're frustrated by the severe lack of single men in their town.

Now, there are some men, but they're pretty much all married and work far away in the cities, so they're only home on weekends. Sons are sent away after they turn 18.

One frustrated 23-year-old told reporters, "Here, the only men we single girls meet are either married or related to us, everyone is a cousin. We all dream of falling in love and getting married. But we like living here and don't want to have to leave the town to find a husband."

Forty-year-old Rosalee Fernandes said, "There are lots of things that women do better than men. Our town is prettier, more organized and far more harmonious than if men were in charge. When problems or disputes arise, we resolve them in a woman's way, trying to find consensus rather than conflict."

Back in the 1890s, a young woman who had been excommunicated from the Catholic church started the community for single women and single mothers, but in the 1940s a male pastor moved into the town and imposed strict puritanical rules.

After his death in 1995, the town's women decided they would never again allow men to dictate their lives.

Fernandes added, 'There's always time to stop and gossip, try on each other's clothes and do each other's hair and nails."
