October is Menopause Awareness Month, so Consultant Gynaecologist Miss Smita Sinha, a leading specialist in women's health and founder of the award-winning Serenity Women's Clinic has addressed some of the myths surrounding menopause. HRT delays menopause - It is often thought that hormone replacement therapy (HRT), a treatment that replaces the body's levels of the hormones oestrogen and progesterone, which fall when a woman stops having periods, can delay the onset of menopause. Domino's Pizza posts smaller-than-expected rise in comparable sales as demand stutters
As a result, competition has heated up in the fast-food industry with burger chains, including McDonald's and Burger King, offering some meals at price points around $5. The "burger wars", as they have come to be known, could also be pressuring demand for Domino's usually value-driven pizzas, analysts have noted. Same-store sales in the U.S. grew 3% in the third quarter ended Sept. 8, compared with expectations of 3.6% rise, according to estimates compiled by LSEG.

BMO juices up US wine unit with new hiring, bets on industry recovery
Canada's Bank of Montreal is betting on a recovery in U.S. wine sales, juicing up the business it acquired through last year's $16-billion purchase of Bank of the West with more hiring and a focus on wealthy individuals, the unit's head said. BMO sees opportunity as the $107-billion U.S. wine market slowly recovers after years of bumpy sales when temporary closures of restaurants and pubs during the pandemic wiped off millions in sales, resulting in surplus stock. "We are even more focused on being the finance source and the advisory source for wine transactions, for wineries buying and selling each other," said Adam Beak, who leads BMO's wine and spirits group in Napa, California, in an interview.

Uniqlo owner books third straight year of record results
STORY: It’s been another blockbuster 12 months for Uniqlo. On Thursday (October 10), parent firm Fast Retailing posted a third straight year of record earnings. Operating profit jumped 31% to over $3.3 billion. That was ahead of both company and analyst forecasts. And Fast Retailing says it expects profits to climb yet further next year. Known for its affordable basics, Uniqlo has been boosted by a weak yen. That increases the value of its overseas earnings, and encourages tourists to splurge while they’re in Japan. China looks less positive, however. With more than 900 stores there, the country is Uniqlo’s biggest overseas market. It has become a bellwether for retail in the world’s second-biggest economy. But China’s sluggish recovery has sapped consumer confidence, weighing on sales. Founder Tadashi Yanai - Japan’s richest man - has long aimed to make Uniqlo the world’s biggest fashion retailer. European rivals H&M and Zara stand in the way of his goal. But Yanai says a consumer shift from luxury to value will help his firm grow more in the years ahead.

Analysis-Kamala Harris win may boost US effort to rein in 'junk fees' levied on consumers
A crackdown by the U.S. consumer finance watchdog on hidden or excessive financial fees could expand to target billions of dollars in mortgage, credit reporting and other fees if Vice President Kamala Harris wins the presidential election. Expunging "junk fees" has been a central, and popular, plank of Democratic President Joe Biden's push to bring down prices. Rohit Chopra, director of the U.S. Consumer Financial Protection Bureau under Biden, has targeted around $20 billion of annual bank overdraft, credit card and bounced-check fees, according to the agency's data.
