Alden Ehrenreich To Play The Young Han Solo In Star Wars Spin-Off

The young Han Solo will be played by Alden Ehrenreich, according to reports.

The ‘Hail, Caesar!’ star is in 'final negotiations’ for the 'Star Wars’ spin-off movie, beating a huge field of other hopefuls.

2,500 other young actors were seen for the role, including British star Taron Edgerton, star of 'Kingsman’, Jack Raynor from 'Transformers: Edge of Extinction’, 'Divergent’s Ansel Elgort, and Emory Cohen who starred in 'Brooklyn’.

Ehrenreich will, of course, take on the mantle from Harrison Ford, who played the swash-buckling smuggler in all three original movies, and more recently, ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’.

The movie, which will be preceded by both the 'Star Wars’ spin-off 'Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ and 'Star Wars VIII’, is being directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller.

Lord and Miller have shot to directing fame in recent years thanks to their turns on 'The Lego Movie’, and the 'Jump Street’ reboots with Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill.

They’ll be working from a script that’s been penned by 'Empire Strikes Back’ and 'Return of the Jedi’ scribe Lawrence Kasdan and his screenwriter son Jon.

Though there’s no firm release date yet, it’s due for release in 2018.
