Ahead of PFL Playoffs semifinals, Brendan Loughnane says he’s used to fighting wrestlers like Chris Wade

For Brendan Loughnane, Chris Wade doesn’t present anything he’s never seen before.

Loughnane (24-4) faces Wade (22-7) at 2022 PFL Playoffs 3, which takes place Saturday at Copper Box Arena in London. The main card airs on ESPN following prelims on ESPN+ and ahead of post-lim qualifiers on ESPN+.

The native of Manchester, England, says he’s faced strong wrestlers numerous times throughout his career. He’s even landed eight takedowns in his wins over Ryoji Kudo and Ago Huskic in the regular season and isn’t afraid to show off that part of his game if necessary.

“(I’ve fought) a lot of wrestlers: Pat Healy, Tyler Diamond, Movlid Khaybulaev,” Loughnane told MMA Junkie Radio. “So I’m used to this, and guys have just been trying to take me down from the start of my career, from 16 years old. I’m used to this style. And hey, I might take him down. Look at my last two fights – you never know. Eight takedowns in two fights – wow. That’s more than my whole career put together.”

Loughnane likes to throw his hands, too, but isn’t ready to predict a finish just based off the history of both fighters’ durability.

“There’s a crazy stat, maybe I’m mistaken, but I’m 24-4, he’s 22-7 and neither of us have been finished,” Loughnane said. “How about that? How crazy is that? So you’re talking about a lot of MMA experience and two good chins, so it’s going to make for a dog fight for sure.”
