AEW's Chris Jericho has revealed that he got an actual magician's licence during the time he called himself 'The Wizard' earlier this year.

In April, Jericho threw a fireball into Eddie Kingston’s face during a brawl on an episode of Dynamite. He then began calling himself The Wizard, causing memes to begin popping up online.

Speaking on the AEW Unrestricted podcast, Jericho explained: "[In] Memphis someone threw a fireball. Okay, I’ll throw a fireball in [Kingston's] face and it worked. Then we were at commentary and I was thinking, 'Who throws a fireball? A wizard, maybe. I’m a wizard!' Read the room. Back in the day, everyone would brings signs.

"There are no signs anymore. You go on Twitter and everyone is like, 'Wizard, wizard', memes and GIFs and I was like, 'Well that’s a thing. All I need to do is throw a fireball one more time..."

The next time Jericho threw a fireball was on Dynamite in May in Las Vegas, ahead of the Double Or Nothing pay-per-view.

However, in order to throw a fireball in Las Vegas, Jericho was required to get a magician's licence and while he got it, it didn't come in time for the taping.

"We went to Vegas..I had my magician’s licence because you need that to throw a fireball in the vicinity of Vegas," Jericho explained. "The problem was it didn’t come in time, so we had to go outside the boundaries of Vegas to throw the fireball at the stagehand.

"And I remember, it was a problem, I was like: 'Guys, don’t tell me why it’s not going to work,' because, once again my internal, '[Wayne] Gretzky stay ahead' says we needed to throw another fireball today because it's at the peak. Next week would be too late.

"We figured it out, made it happen, the kid took the fireball, and now it’s a thing. I did it one more time with Shota Umino. That’s it. I don't ever have to throw it again," he added. "I can fake it, I can tease it, or maybe I do. But now it's a thing it's part of Chris Jericho canon."

After being 'The Wizard', Jericho's latest nickname is 'The Ocho' after winning his eighth world championship when he captured the Ring of Honor World Championship at Dynamite Grand Slam earlier this month.
