The surprise meeting took place on live TV during the Grammys telecast with host Trevor Noah making the introduction during his opening host remarks.
Noah put the spotlight on Adele, nominated seven times at the 2023 awards, sitting stageside next to her boyfriend Rich Paul at the Crypto.com Arena.
"This is one of the strangest thing I've found out. The person that Adele has wanted to meet, but never has is Dwayne Johnson," said Noah, as Adele shook her head in agreement. "You've never met him."

"And I found out that he's a huge fan of yours," Noah added. "I don't have someone named Dwayne Johnson here, but I do have someone called The Rock."
With that, the beaming 6'4" superstar The Rock strode over to the flabbergasted Adele.
"Adele, meet The Rock. The Rock meet Adele," said Noah. "First time ever."
The two hugged with Adele laughing in shock and excitement over the meeting.
"You two get acquainted. We have to keep the show moving," said Noah, moving on to the awards.
Adele revealed in a Dec. 2021 NikkieTutorial that she would “actually cry” if she ever met the "amazing" Johnson.
"I was the biggest wrestling fan when I was younger," Adele said. "He sent me flowers the other day because he and his wife couldn’t make my show. Literally, I nearly fell off my chair."
Johnson posted a video of the Grammy meeting on his Instagram account Tuesday.
"We’re huge fans of each others and have never met, until this moment. Cool to finally meet my new best friend," he wrote. "You know I love my surprises."
Later in the Grammys show, Johnson presented Adele with the best pop solo performance Grammy. "Get up here best friend," he said from the stage.
"When I opened the Grammy envelope to announce the winner, I had to smile at the universe working its magic," Johnson wrote on Instagram of the moment. "You can feel the mana in this moment."
The Rock-Adele meeting garnered love and laughs on social media, with one Twitter user imagining Paul's reaction to the chemistry.
