AC Flora, Ridge View, Richland Northeast boys win as Region 5-4A race tightens

Region 5-4A boys basketball continues to be one of the toughest races in the Midlands.

Friday’s games were no exception with all three games decided by six points or less including the thriller between Westwood and AC Flora. Will Willard hit a game-tying 3-pointer to send it into overtime and Flora defeated Westwood, 71-66, to sweep the season series and move into a first-place tie with Ridge View.

CP Parker led AC Flora with 23 points.

Ridge View, which lost to AC Flora on Tuesday, edged Lugoff-Elgin 57-55. Jayden Pretty led the way with 14 points.

Richland Northeast moved up to third place by defeating Irmo, 50-46. It was Irmo’s third straight loss. Jaylen Tillman had 14 and Marques Smith had 13 for the Cavs, who are 3-3 in the region and in a three-way tie with Westwood and Irmo.
