Earlier this year, Taylor-Johnson was at the centre of some pretty persistent James Bond speculation.

In March, it was reported that he had been offered the role of Ian Fleming's spy after previous Bond Daniel Craig had bowed out in No Time To Die.

At the time, a production insider denied the reports, telling BBC News that there was "no truth in the rumours".

In April, the actor himself shut down a question related to the James Bond role on the red carpet. In an awkward exchange, Taylor-Johnson was asked if he was "sick" of being quizzed about his possible involvement in the spy saga.

After taking a moment and letting out a sigh in response, the star replied: "You sick of asking the question?"

"I want to know, so no…," the reporter said, before Taylor-Johnson began to walk off and said: "Alright, have a good one."

Whether Taylor-Johnson will be confirmed in the role of Bond or not, he has received the backing of former 007 actor Pierce Brosnan.

"I think the man has the chops and the talent and the charisma to play Bond, very much so," the Irish star told The Ray D'Arcy Show when the rumours started circulating.

Brosnan added: "I read the news about his possibilities of being a Bond, so I would definitely tip my hat to the fellow."

Meanwhile, Taylor-Johnson has a few confirmed projects in the works, including Robert Eggers' Nosferatu, Marvel's upcoming Kraven the Hunter, British heist movie Fuze, and Danny Boyle's sequel to 28 Days Later, titled 28 Years Later.
