Located in Scottsdale, Arizona, McCormick Ranch is one of the most sought-after areas among retirees in the state.

"The community sits along a bike path with tons of walkability," said Jessica Bojorquez, a luxury real estate professional based in Arizona.

For retirees, Bojorquez recommends the senior living community Tuscany at McCormick Ranch, which offers upscale resort-style amenities including a pool, outdoor kitchen, shaded courtyards and a putting green. One-bedroom apartments at Tuscany at McCormick Ranch start at $4,505.

Prescott, Arizona

Retirees who still want four seasons rather than year-round high temperatures should consider Prescott.

"Not everyone enjoys the summer heat," Bojorquez said. "Prescott is a mile-high town with a population of about 45,000 people. The town is close to Sedona and less than a two-hour drive from Phoenix or Flagstaff. This vibrant historic town offers several communities for retirees, including Touchmark at the Ranch, which includes cottage homes, an 18,000-square-foot health club, five-star dining and so much more."

The average home value in Prescott is $619,997, according to Zillow.

Paradise Valley, Arizona

With an average list price of $5.1 million, Paradise Valley is a fit for retirees seeking some of the most luxurious real estate offerings in the state.

"This small town is nestled on the north face of Camelback Mountain in the metro Phoenix [area]," said Robert Joffe, an Arizona luxury realtor. "Its central location is minutes away from the fine dining, golf, and arts and culture available in nearby Scottsdale or the Arcadia neighborhood of Phoenix."

There are also plenty of amenities located in Paradise Valley itself, including numerous golf courses, resorts and restaurants.

"Located in the Sonoran Desert, the temperature is also a little bit cooler than other parts of the Valley. The homes and lots in this community were designed for maximum privacy, which many retirees desire."

The median home list price in Terravita is $983,500, according to Realtor.com.

Bellasera is another luxurious neighborhood in the Scottsdale, Arizona area.

"Bellasera is a great location for retirees because the community is tucked away in the beautiful Lone Mountain area, boasting gorgeous views and privacy," Morales said. "Although it is tucked away, residents are still close enough to enjoy dining and shopping in North Scottsdale. The quiet community consists of 11 different floor plans for residents to choose from and find their perfect home."

Amenities include a gated and guarded entry, a golf course, racquetball courts, a clubhouse, pools and spas, a fitness center and a basketball court.

The average sale price of homes in Bellasera is $731,000, according to Redfin.

Tonto Verde, Rio Verde, Arizona

Those looking to retire in a more secluded area should consider Tonto Verde in Rio Verde, Arizona.

"Tonto Verde is a great neighborhood for retirees because it's further away from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet close enough to enjoy the perfect balance of nature and city life," Morales said. "It's also an excellent community for golf lovers, recognized as a premier Arizona golf community."

Tonto Verde's amenities include a private golf course, dining, walking and hiking trails, pools, a fitness center, a library, a bocce court, social clubs and groups, and cultural outings.

The median price of homes in Tonto Verde is $1.2 million, according to Realtor.com.

Victory at Verrado, Buckeye, Arizona

Victory at Verrado is a 55-plus community located in Buckeye, Arizona.

"Victory at Verrado is great for retirees because it's a gorgeous community tucked away in the White Tank Mountains offering beautiful views and privacy," Morales said. "It is located in the West Valley, but doesn't feel too far from normal community living. Verrado is also home to Main Street, which is the central hub of Verrado where family and friends love to gather. The downtown district is home to restaurants, cafes, shops and more."
