60-year-old Rancho Cordova cyclist was attacked with machete, Sacramento sheriff names suspect

A day after a 60-year-old bicyclist was “gravely” wounded in a Rancho Cordova assault, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said the man’s injuries are “not survivable.” Detectives have also identified the suspect. James Hall, 42, is believed to have hit the man in the head with a machete Monday around 6:15 p.m. near Zinfandel Drive and Italia Way, spokesperson Rod Grassmann said. He is considered a risk to the public and to law enforcement officers. If anyone sees him, they are asked to not approach him and instead call 911.
