60-year-old disappears after going to hike AZ trail, cops say. Car found at trailhead

A 60-year-old woman disappeared after going on a hike in Arizona, authorities said.

Kathleen Patterson left her home around 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 25, the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Patterson was going to hike at Spur Cross, which is in the Cave Creek area, authorities said. The Spur Cross Ranch Reservation Area has several hiking trails.

Patterson contacted her family around 10:30 a.m., hours after leaving her home, deputies said.

Then she was not heard from again, deputies said. Authorities said they found her gray Infiniti at a trailhead parking lot.

Cave Creek reached a high of 101 the day she went missing, and it will reach a high of 97 degrees on Monday, according to AccuWeather.

She was last seen wearing a green tank top, hiking shorts, a white visor hat and a blue hiking backpack. She’s 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighs 112 pounds and has blond hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information about Patterson should contact the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office at 602-876-1011.

Cave Creek is about 35 miles northeast of downtown Phoenix.
