Spelman College president takes 'personal leave of absence'
Spelman College President Dr. Helene D. Gayle is taking a personal leave of absence, the nation's top-rated historically Black college announced Friday. Spelman College did not give a reason for Gayle's leave, but said in a statement it is “effective immediately." Rosalind “Roz” Brewer, the former chair of the school's board of trustees and a limited partner with the Atlanta Falcons, has assumed day-to-day duties as interim president.

Therapy Dog 'Helps' With Post-Milton Debris Cleanup on Florida's Treasure Island
An adorable therapy dog was seen “lending a paw” by picking up a branch in the city of Treasure Island, Florida, as crews continued to remove debris left after hurricanes Milton and Helene.“This ‘pawsome’ therapy dog rolled into town with some of the contractors and decided to help with debris collection along the beach walk. Volunteers truly come in all shapes, sizes, and breeds!” the City of Treasure Island said in social media posts on Friday, October 18.Officials on Friday said contractors were “saturating the island” and “collecting debris in each neighborhood.”Crews were now “focused more on cleaning the beaches,” the city added. “We know many want to get back to our beautiful beaches.
