Hot temperatures aside, this weekend is a great opportunity to enjoy the summer sun.

On Friday and Saturday, temperatures range in the 90s, followed by 100 degrees on Sunday. So if you do head out, make sure to grab sunscreen and water, too.

Here’s what’s happening in the Sacramento area this weekend, June 8 to June 10:

Friday

Watch a comedy show under the moonlight

3020 Renwick Ave, Elk Grove

Comedy Under the Stars, hosted by Cosumnes Community Services District, is showcasing its second night in Elk Grove. From 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., you can watch some stand up while stargazing, picnicking or both.

Friday’s headliners include Emily Van Dyke, Justin Lucas and Marc Yaffee, according to the district website.

Attendees must be 18 and over, and there won’t be any food vendors. Tickets are $15 if you register early online, by phone at (916) 405-5600 or at Cosumnes CSD registration counters. It’s $18 at the door.

Take the weekend train

125 I Street, Sacramento

The California State Railroad Museum and Foundation is hosting weekend train rides on the Sacramento Southern Railroad. The train will transport you through the Sacramento River levees for six miles, the museum website says.

Guests can ride in the coach cars or open-air gondolas. This is an ongoing event with dates scattered through to September.

You have the option of riding coach or first class, with general admission starting for adults at $15 and $25, respectively.

Saturday

Go for a walk in nature

2140 Chase Drive, Rancho Cordova

See what Sacramento’s nature has to offer with Soil Born Farms’ Nature Lovers Walk. Naturalist Cliff Hawley will guide you through the walk as you explore different plants, birds and insects in the area, according to the organization’s website.

Tickets are $15.

Sunday

Grab some booze and books

5090 Folsom Blvd, Sacramento

Wild Sisters Book Company is hosting a blast to the past with a book fair, but there’s a twist. Its Boozy Book Fair features classic children’s literature, knick knacks and adult beverages.
