470 people reported illness, including liver issues, from recalled Daily Harvest food

The FDA website posting of Daily Harvest’s French Lentil + Leek Crumbles recall “due to consumer reports of gastrointestinal illness and potential liver function issues” also says the vegan food delivery company has received 470 such reports.

That recall posted late Thursday. Daily Harvest first announced a problem with the crumbles July 19, after several social media and Reddit thread complaints from customers. One Instagram user claimed he needed to have his gall bladder removed.

Thursday’s recall notice, written by Daily Harvest and also posted on the company’s website, says 28,000 12-ounce, white pouches of the French Lentil + Leek Crumbles were distributed from April 28 through June 17. They were sold online and at the brick-and-mortar Daily Harvest store in Chicago and a pop-up store in Los Angeles, and given as samples.
