4-year-old dies after getting run over by farm equipment, Wisconsin sheriff says

A young boy died in a farming accident after a machine ran over him, Wisconsin authorities said.

The 4-year-old boy was struck and ran over by a skid steer in Peru just after 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28, the Dunn County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

Emergency personnel responded and treated the boy at the scene. He died from his injuries, the sheriff said.

An adult family member was operating the skid steer – a small piece of equipment, also known as a skid loader or bobcat, with a large bucket attachment that is often used in farming or construction work – at the time of the incident, officials said.

The boy’s identity has not been released.

Peru is about 150 miles northwest of Milwaukee.
