4 Arrested After Police Discover Head & Body Parts of Man, Woman Strewn Across N.Y. Town
Police arrested Steven Brown, Jeffrey Mackey, Amanda Wallace, and Alexis Nieves in connection with the discovery
Authorities in New York have arrested four people in their investigation into several body parts strewn across Babylon, N.Y. that were discovered over the course of a week.
The Suffolk County Police Department announced Wednesday the arrests of Steven Brown, 44, Jeffrey Mackey, 38, Amanda Wallace, 40, and Alexis Nieves, 33, the department said in a statement to PEOPLE.
The suspects have been charged with hindering prosecution, tampering with physical evidence and concealment of a human corpse, per the statement.
Police responded to a scene last week when a student on her way to school found a “severed left arm” near a park, the department said in an earlier statement to PEOPLE. She reported the discovery to her father, who then called 911, the statement said.
Once at the scene, police and cadaver dogs found “a leg in a mound of leaves” nearby as well as a right arm — which was only feet away from the left arm initially discovered, per the statement.
Some of the remains were determined to be those of a man, police said.
A severed head and other body parts found belonged to a woman, police said in an updated statement.
On Tuesday, police found more body parts in a park a few miles away, per the statement. The remains belonged to the same victims whose remains were discovered last week, they said.

One of the victims have been identified as a 59-year-old woman, police said, and they “tentatively identified” the other victim to be a 53-year-old man.
Police have not announced a motive or released any further information on the victims.
The suspects are scheduled to be arraigned on March 6. It's not immediately clear if they have retained attorneys.
