A 36-year-old man has been charged with the murder of Sabina Nessa

The Metropolitan Police have shared that a 36-year-old man, named as Koci Selamaj, has been charged with the murder of 28-year-old primary school teacher, Sabina Nessa. The young woman was attacked during a five minute journey from home home in Kidbrooke, south-east London, while on the way to meet a friend in a nearby pub.

In a newly posted statement, the authorities said that Selamaj lived in Eastbourne and is set to appear in Willesden Magistrates' Court tomorrow (28 September).

"A man has been charged with the murder of 28-year-old Sabina Nessa in Kidbrooke, south-east London on Friday, 17 September," the statement reads.

It continues on to say, "Koci Selamaj, 36 (04.05.85) of Terminus Road, Eastbourne was charged on Monday, 27 September. He will appear at Willesden Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 28 September. Selamaj was arrested in Eastbourne, East Sussex in the early hours of Sunday, 26 September before being taken into police custody.

"On Monday, 27 September a file was submitted to the Crown Prosecution Service and a charge was authorised as above."

Selamaj's arrest took place three days after police asked the public for help with finding a man seen on CCTV in Kidbrooke, southeast London, close to Cator Park where Sabina's body was found.

Sabina's sister, Jebina Yasmin Islam, told the hundreds of people who gathered at a vigil on Friday that she had "lost an amazing, caring, beautiful sister, who left this world far too early".

Jebina said that following the loss of Sabina, her and her family's world had been "shattered".
