Brazil's annual inflation continued to trend down but slightly less than expected in April, official data showed on Friday, in the first consumer price readings after the nation's central bank voted to reduce the pace of its interest rate cuts. Inflation in Latin America's largest economy hit 3.69% in the 12 months through April, statistics agency IBGE said, slowing from 3.93% in the previous month, but a tad above the 3.66% expected by economists polled by Reuters. Earlier this week, Brazil's central bank cut rates by 25 basis points to 10.5%, slowing its ongoing easing cycle after six straight 50-basis-point cuts.
A U.S. judge dismissed a lawsuit in which Elon Musk's X Corp accused an Israeli data-scraping company of illegally copying and selling content, and selling tools that let others copy and sell content, from the social media platform. U.S. District Judge William Alsup in San Francisco ruled on Thursday that X, formerly Twitter, failed to plausibly allege that Bright Data Ltd violated its user agreement by allowing the scraping and evading X's own anti-scraping technology. Alsup said using scraping tools is not inherently fraudulent, and giving social media companies free rein to decide how public data are used "risks the possible creation of information monopolies that would disserve the public interest."

Zambia aims to finish restructuring its $3 billion of international bonds by the end of the month, a senior official said on Friday, after reaching a preliminary deal in March that brought it closer to ending its long-delayed debt rework. The pact struck with a group of holders of the notes, known as eurobonds, now needs to be sent to all bondholders to be voted on, either as brand new bonds - an "exchange offer" - or as amendments to bonds already held - a "consent solicitation". "If all goes well, with the bondholders, we should sign all the documentation by the end of this month," secretary to the treasury Felix Nkulukusa told a public lecture at a university in Kitwe, a city in Zambia's Copperbelt region.
