Talaysia Cooper’s week continues to get better.

Two days after being selected to play in the McDonald’s All-American Game, the South Carolina signee and East Clarendon guard set a personal milestone on Friday by going over 3,000 points in her career. The milestone came in the third quarter of the game against C.E. Murray. She came into the game 24 points shy of 3,000.

South Carolina women’s coach Dawn Staley was among the attendees of Friday’s game.

Cooper is just the sixth girls basketball player in South Carolina High School history and first since Kionna Jeter (2016) to cover over the mark. Former York standout Ivory Latta holds the state’s all-time scoring record with 4,319 points.

Cooper has been a member of the East Clarendon team since the seventh grade and helped the Wolverines to the 2018 Class A championship. EC is ranked No. 2 in the latest Class A polls released this week. She scored her 2,000th point in January of 2000.

The 6-foot point guard is ranked No. 4 at her position and the No. 18 overall prospect in the Class of 2022, according to ESPNW. She entered Friday’s game, averaging 27.1 points, 14.3 rebounds, 9 assists, 4.8 steals and 3.7 blocks per game this season.
