The man, Shankar Rai, eventually died, however. The incident occurred in Bahar, India, on Saturday.
Rai, who was sleeping when he received the fatal bite, reportedly awoke to his condition deteriorating and turned emotional suddenly.
When he realized he wouldn't survive, he bit his wife's hands while sharing with her his wish to remain united even in an afterlife.
Needless to say, his last wish wasn't fulfilled.

After biting his wife, the pair fell unconscious. Soon after, the couple was rushed to the emergency room, where doctors were unable to revive Rai but managed to save his wife.
"The woman could be saved as her treatment began on time. She is safe now," local medical practitioner Dr. Jaykant told local reporters Monday.
