When you hear the word lavender, sweet floral scents and soft purples probably come to mind. In fact, the last thing you'd probably think of is a horrific car crash, gross memory loss or a tragic and mysterious past. This anomaly in and of itself stands to help define and set apart Ed Gass-Donnelly's bone-chilling thriller 'Lavender' not only from others in its genre, but also from its fellow films featured at the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival.

Starring Abbie Cornish of 'Limitless', 'Lavender' focuses on a woman who, after surviving a nasty car crash and suffering heavy brain injury and memory loss, must come to terms with a haunting past that begins to resurface.

Who looked the best on the Tribeca Film Festival red carpet?

Gass-Donnelly, known for films 'This Beautiful City' and 'Small Town Murder Songs', "crafts a riveting hallucinatory tale about a woman who must relive horrors to save the ones she holds the most dear." With a cinematography and score that go hand in hand with the film's subtle but undeniably eerie structure and storyline, 'Lavender' does not fall short in its ability to make us shiver.

Cornish delivers a layered performance that "uplifts this sturdy chiller" and brings to life the lost survivor grappling for answers in her own twisted, long-forgotten past. Featuring surprisingly different performances from actors Justin Long and Dermot Mulroney, there is no shortage of talent on-screen or behind the scenes when it comes to the production of 'Lavender'.

Above, you can hear more from star Abbie Cornish and directer/co-writer Ed Gass-Donnelly about how 'Lavender' came to be, what it's like to be featured in the prestigious Tribeca Film Festival, and the what the most important qualities of a driven and successful artist are.
