120 movies coming to Kansas City for FilmFest. Plus more things to do this weekend

The Kansas City FilmFest International will bring more than 120 films from around the world to the screens at AMC Ward Parkway this weekend.

Among the features, shorts and documentaries are several of local interest, including “The Sisters Karras,” directed by former Kansas Citian Micah Stathis; “Garden City, Kansas” about the bomb plot by militant white supremacists; “Under the Influencer” by Kansas City writer and director Alex Haughey; “Jack Has a Plan,” a documentary produced by Independence native Chris Metzler; and “The Unseen,” with local actors and film locations.

Movies will begin at 12:05 p.m. March 26, 5:10 p.m. March 27, 5:15 p.m. March 28 and 5:10 p.m. March 29. Tickets ($10; gold passes $45) are available at kcfilmfest.org.

Also, the First City Film Festival will offer screenings of local and international films at the Riverfront Community Center in Leavenworth, March 23-26. Tickets ($6-$50) are available at filmfreeway.com/firstcityfilmfestival.
