Shop the $12 socks Gigi Hadid loves and so will your family this Christmas

Bombas: The best sock brand you will ever try? (Photo: Bombas, Art: Quinn Lemmers)

Yahoo Lifestyle would like to introduce you to #TheCurrent, a column by Fashion Editor Julie Tong, in which she gives her stamp of approval to some of the latest fashion products and launches. The editors at Yahoo Lifestyle are committed to finding you the best products at the best prices. At times, we may receive a share from purchases made via links on this page.

The socks are called Bombas and, for what it’s worth, I didn’t know what these were until a recent visit to my boyfriend’s family in Texas. His parents could not stop raving about these special socks they discovered. They loved how soft, comfortable, and sturdy they were. But their favorite part? The special “stay up technology,” so no more annoying sock slippage. Steve, my boyfriend’s father and a frequent business traveler, even described a recent flight on which nearly everyone in his cabin was wearing Bombas on their feet.

By this point, I knew I was missing something and decided to look into it.

I discovered that not only are Gigi Hadid, Zayn, and Justin Timberlake are fans of Bombas, but Shark Tank judge Daymond John became an investor in 2014 after the brand appeared on the show. And after getting my hands on the socks for myself, I must say I could not agree more with all the hype — and especially loved the special “blister tab,” an ankle cushion that helps prevent painful chafing and blisters. (If you, like me, keep Band-Aids in your purse for this very reason, then you know how game-changing this tiny detail is.)

Bombas was launched in 2013 after its founders, David Heath and Randy Goldberg, discovered that socks are the No. 1 requested item at homeless shelters and decided to do something about it. So it takes after the Toms giving-back model, and for every pair of socks sold, a pair is donated. That ensures it lives up to its namesake — “bumblebees” in Latin — and the bees’ inspiration to Heath and Goldberg, who loved that the creatures, despite their small size, can still create a big impact on the world.

Last year, Bombas succeeded in its goal of donating 1 million pairs of socks. To date, the brand has donated over 12 million pairs of socks.

This Christmas, why not give your parents, friends, and colleagues the gift of Bombas? They make excellent stocking stuffers too. Trust me, they will thank you.
