What's The Story

America is drowning in the dismal depths of the Great Depression, and all over the country, the common man is harboring a hatred for the Big Bad Banks. Enter charismatic bank robber John Dillinger, folk hero to the masses and the scourge of the FBI. The Bureau sends the debonair Agent Melvin Purvis after Dillinger and his gang in an effort to call a halt to the runaway crime spree, but in order to catch a notorious criminal, the lawmen must learn to think like criminals themselves.

Three Good Reasons

  • 1Johnny Depp and Christian Bale! Guys and gals alike will be delighted as these two legendary leading men show off their talents for action and drama in one movie.
  • 2History buffs will be glad to know that Bryan Burrough, who wrote the nonfiction book the movie was drawn from, calls this film "by far the closest thing to fact Hollywood has attempted."
  • 3The crucial shootout scene between Dillinger and the FBI is actually shot in its real-life location at the famous Little Bohemia Lodge.

Bet You Didn't Know

A third of the FBI's entire budget for the year 1934 was allocated to hunting down John Dillinger. More about Public Enemies on Yahoo! Movies
