What's The Story

Georgia, a Greek-American making a living in the motherland, is stuck in a bit of a rut. She spends her days dragging clueless, apathetic tourists around awe-inspiring Greek ruins, and despite the romantic atmosphere, she spends her nights in dreary solitude. Then one day a tourist named Irv snaps her out of her funk and teaches her how to get her mojo back. Meanwhile, love lurks in the most unexpected of places -- at the front of the tour bus, behind a quiet facade and a ridiculous beard.

Three Good Reasons

  • 1Nia Vardalos, star and co-writer of this film, was also the star and writer of My Big Fat Greek Wedding, which made more money than any other romantic comedy ever.
  • 2The script was originally written by Mike Reiss (The Simpsons Movie) based on his travel experiences, then was retooled by Nia herself, making for a fascinating marriage of minds.
  • 3The scenery alone is worth the ticket price: this is the first time that an American film studio has ever been allowed to film on location at the legendary Acropolis.

Bet You Didn't Know

The Parthenon's perfectly symmetrical structure makes it look as though it's made from interchangeable pieces, like all modern buildings. Not so! The Parthenon is actually constructed much like a jigsaw puzzle -- each piece has a unique shape that could not be replaced with any others. More about My Life in Ruins on Yahoo! Movies
