Filmmakers have been making movies about exotic dancers and strippers almost as long as said exotic dancers and strippers have been shedding clothing for money. It’s quite simple really: sex sells - and there are few better ways to spice up an otherwise ordinary underdog story or serious relationship drama than with a strategically placed striptease. “Magic” Mike Martingano (Channing Tatum) – “Magic Mike” – Director Steven Soderbergh’s latest is partially based on Tatum’s real-life experiences working as a male stripper in Tampa, Florida. “Magic Mike” puts Tatum in the title role of stripping veteran Mike Martingano, who is charged by his boss (Matthew McConaughey) with showing the new kid (Alex Pettyfer) the ropes while simultaneously trying to get out of the game himself.
