Filmmaker Daniel Adams appears to have finally found success by sourcing
the yarns of Cape Cod author Joseph Crosby Lincoln.

Given the fact that Daniel Adams' first Joseph C. Lincoln film adaptation
sold out every single screening of a five-day Cape Cod engagement and set a
local box office record last fall, the writer-director has wisely chosen to
follow up Chatham with another movie based on a Lincoln work. Where
Chatham was based on Cap 'n Eri, the forthcoming The
Lightkeeper will take its cue from The Woman Haters.
According to a report in the Cape Cod Chronicle, Adams
plans to start shooting The Lightkeeper locally around Labor Day,
with a cast that will include James Caan, Martin Shee, Chris O'Donnell and
Blythe Danner. But before that, Chatham had a special fundraising
screening on Saturday, June 28th and will run again locally from July 4th
through the 24th.
Starring David Carradine, Bruce Dern and Rip Torn as three retired sea
captains wrangling with a classified ad ordered companion played by Mariel
Hemingway, Chatham is slated to be released nationally later this
year by IFC Films. Internationally, a separate distributor (Cinema Vault)
has chosen to distribute it under the title of The Golden Boys.
Author Lincoln, who lived from 1870 to 1944, was nothing if not prolific.
Beginning in 1902, he basically wrote at a clip of one novel per year or
more, ensuring that if Adams so chooses, he has many more screenplays to
possibly pull from the Lincoln well.
