It's 1996. An Algerian couple, Aya and Moncef, have been living in the south of France for forty years. Both participated actively in the Algerian war independence under the command of the charismatic Amin, the local leader of the revolutionary F.L.N. Now, Amin is coming to visit them. Aya's memory is jarred by long-faded images. The last time Amin came to her home, it was in 1965 to take refuge from the police. Aya was only 22 years old, but already the mother of two children. A secret romance, brief but intense, was born between Aya and Amin, which broke all laws, exposing them to a sure death if caught. Yet they persisted. Amin promised to take Aya to Algeria after the war and make big plans for their future and for their country. Amin's visit forces everyone to take a clear look at their choices and responsibilities.
