During the early days of the post-war Reconstruction, Charlotte Forten, a black schoolteacher, moved south from her Philadelphia home to the small town of Sea Island. As part of President Lincoln's "great experiment," she was sent there to teach and inspire the children of newly freed slaves. A true story of perseverance and courage in the face of rampant racism. AKA "Half-Slave/Half-Free Part 2."
